Let's get learn How to do... in reskull's way!
Here I have a subtitled reel footage of how did I designed the firey explosions and shockwaves on 35th issue of Saat X Magazine's cover.
The most notable thing about this is I have used no add-on or third-party tools and the effects rather than default ones and it came out so well and fast.
Procedure is:
Create a custom brush, you can even use the default paint effect brushes, it's nothing special, just a random shaped brush stroke like a Chalk or any Rough Brush.
Then paint on your desired shape of explosion with the Brush tool, while the Shape Dynamic and Color Dynamic are set on in Brush settings.
* In shape dynamic look out for randomness of strokes.
* In color dynamic look out for foreground and background colors mixture per tip to take your desired colors splat good!
Convert basic strokes layer you've just drawn into Smart object to make edits in next levels.
Apply Liquify to that smart layer, now Bloat, Pucker and Twirl it by your desired design.
Apply some Path Blurs from Blur Gallery on your favorite direction of fire and explosion.
Your almost done, after that depends on your desire more than before! shade the corners, bright the center and never forget about Adjustment layers.
Some online friend of mine from Argentina asked me about how to make animations with Photoshop, so I started to make a Tutorial but not a video, it is a still long brochure-like image with step-by-step method.
